For instance, when the reserve requirement is raised, it decreases the supply of money by necessitating a larger percentage of the banks, demand deposits to be held by Central Bank. This takes the banks and other financial institutions out of the money supply. This action is do occasionally because it is attributed to long-term alteration of the money supply. The Discount Window This is situation where the commercial banks and other financial institutions are able to take a leak a loan of reserves from Central Bank at a certain discount rate.
